Today was the first day where it felt like summer is pretty much over. Sure, we will still have a couple weeks more of fairly warm shorts-appropriate weather, but October does approach. And with October approaching, that means it is time to start thinking about a fall hiking trip. This year I will have to limit it to a day hike, but there are a couple pretty cool places close enough to make the trip worthwhile. One place I definitely would like to try is Brown County State Park in Indiana. I have read great things about it, and it does have the added bonus of being close to another geological feature – Anderson Falls. I have never been to either area, so that is part of the added appeal. Of course the other ideas I had are places I’ve been before such as Hocking Hills, Clifty Falls, and Red River Gorge. If all else fails, I will just have to settle for some of the Cincinnati-area parks (which aren’t that bad, in all honesty).
As a reference, I found the fall-color websites for Ohio and Indiana. I didn’t find Kentucky’s website, but I will continue to look for it.
