I finally got out to Perfect North today for about 5 hours of skiing with Greg and Chris. Although it has been close to a year since I had gone, it didn’t take long for me to get my “ski legs” back. After a few easy runs, we were doing all of the runs that we would normally do. The conditions were quite good considering that two weeks ago it felt like we were in the midst of spring. The runs didn’t have much ice at all, and they had a decent amount of powder. Not to the level that mountains out west would have, but still a pretty good amount for here. It did start to get pretty crowded in the early afternoon, but by that point we had already done a lot of skiing. And even then the crowds seemed to congregate over on the far lift – by The Far Side. We stuck with the lift by Backstage for a lot of that time, and were able to still get a lot of runs in. We left around 3:00, even though we still had a few hours left on our passes. Greg did go last week, but Chris and I hadn’t gone in awhile – so we all were pretty worn out by that point. Regardless, it was a great time, and I feel like I have been really improving. I was able to make smaller and tighter turns than I had in the past, and I only had one fall. Even that one fall was mostly from not paying attention, as opposed to screwing up. I do hope to be able to go one or more times this year, but we’ll see how things play out.
