I attended my second Cincinnati .NET User’s Group last night (yeah, I’ve really been on the ball), where Chad Campbell presented Silverlight. The presentation was very interesting, and it did get me interested in at least exploring Silverlight further. Right now it seems like it is mostly a "gee whiz" kind of technology, since it can only really be used for presenting videos and other multimedia (1.0 has been released). Since we have been using Flex at my current client, I definitely saw that Silverlight has some ways to go before it can be used as a UI framework for business applications. The 1.1 release will make strides towards achieving that goal, but the release is only in alpha. Regardless, I am looking forward to seeing where it may go.
