Skiing this weekend

I went skiing for the first time this year on Saturday.  Other than the fact that it was the busiest day of the year for Perfect North, I had a great time.  I did meet up with a friend there, but she was helping her son to snowboard on the bunny slope, so I skied by myself the entire day.  Although it would have been nice to have skied with someone, there were some nice advantages to being able to ski by myself.  Not the least of which was getting on the lifts faster because of being able to use the singles lines.  The place was crazy crowded, but I still got in a lot of runs thanks to the speed that the singles lines moved.

It was simply fantastic getting out there for a rare winter adrenaline rush.  I thought I did quite well, I even tackled Tuff Enuff a couple of times without falling.  I’m not going to say that I looked graceful, but I was able to make turns and keep my composure as I raced down the hill in somewhat fast conditions.  One day I may even challenge Center Stage.  I toyed with the thought while I was there, but I thought better of it because of crowded conditions.

Besides having fun during a day of Midwestern skiing, I thought it was a pretty good warm up for a Snowshoe trip I will be making with my in-laws in a couple of weeks.  Bring on the mountain skiing!
