I voted today
It is a beautiful day - the fall colors are vibrant, the sun is shining, and the end of the political advertisements is in sight (for awhile, anyway). I don't like to get too political here - that usually is an invitation for rabid commentary either "for" or "against" your viewpoints. But, I am glad to say that I voted today. Unfortunately, I didn't research the local candidates or issues as much as I would have liked, but I did spend time reading on the national and state issues and candidates. Regardless of who wins, it is pretty cool seeing what has happened with this election. Over on Facebook there really was a push for members to get involved and vote. Sure, there was political posturing by supporters of all candidates, but the overwhelming message was to just get out there and vote. I think it is through Facebook and other social networking sites that participation of the younger, internet-savvy crowd has been increasing throughout the last few years. Of course, presidential elections also tend to be more energized than other elections. However, it can only be seen as a positive sign that so many are getting out to vote. In more ways than one this is certainly a historic election, and I am glad to be part of it.
