Conclusion of the 2008 – 2009 season

Monday night we had our annual end of the year banquet for the bowling league. As usual, it consisted of a steak or chicken dinner and drinks, followed by the awarding of prize money. The Lebowskis finished in 14th place this season, out of 22 teams. It was the same as last season , although I would consider it a slight fall since there were 24 teams then. We started off this season quite well, finishing in the top 10 during the first half. However, we fell apart during the second half, which concluded...

First week of softball

Last night was the first week of the spring softball session, 2009. I am on two teams for the spring session, and both teams play on Friday nights. Apparently the schedule makers at Rumpke were able to accommodate teams who are in two leagues on the same night, so there we are. It was a pretty good first night - we lost the first game and won the second. The first game we were decent on defense, other than one inning where we just had a breakdown. We started strong at the plate, but failed to generate...

2009 softball season

I found out from my brother that we are playing softball on Friday nights again, our first game will be on April 24th.  We will still be playing at Rumpke Ballpark , which is a bit longer of a drive than I would like, but at least I do get to play with both of my brothers again.  Luckily that gives me a couple of weeks to hit the batting cages and get in a “softball frame of mind”, whatever that means.  Let’s play ball!...

Bowling week 16

Recap sheet Week 16 was good to the Lebowskis. We won 5 points out of 7, the only reason we didn't win all of them was that our opponent had an excellent first game. And, as opposed to last week, everyone on the team bowled above his average. In fact, Nick had his highest series ever - a 657. He was in good position for a 700 series, but his shot fell apart during the last game. Regardless, he did have a good night. Prior to bowling we were in 8th place with a 57 - 48 record, now we are 62 - 50....

Bowling Week 15

Recap sheet The Lebowskis had an excellent Week 15. We won all 7 points, which brings our record to 57 - 48. That should keep us in the top half of the standings (we were in 11th place out of 22 teams). Most of us had a good night at the lanes, unfortunately Tony was the exception to that. He did have one decent game, but his other two games were less than stellar. The other four of us each bowled well above our averages....

Clueless Mike Brown

From this "interview" with Mike Brown one thing is apparent: Mike Brown still doesn't get it and will never get it. He is "pleased" with the effort of the players and the coaches because he is still making a tidy profit from this "NFL" franchise. Is there a more incompetent owner in all of sports? It's a shame that he brings new meaning to the "Brown" family name....

Bowling week 12

Recap sheet The last couple of years I had blogged almost every week's results, but have this season I have only blogged once about bowling. I thought I would get the Lebowskis site integrated with it's own blog, but I haven't really gotten to that yet. So, here I am back with results. We won 5 points and lost 2 points during week 12. That gives us a season record of 46 - 38, which is pretty damn good for us. Last night I bowled my 2nd best series ever - a 773; my highest ever is a 777. So, despite...

Urgent distress call

The Bengals suck (2008 edition)

I haven't posted about the Bengals in about a year. My reasons ranged from site changes to lack of time... but the real reason is that I've given up on the team. Last year they were competitive, but I didn't have a lot of faith in them. The writing was on the wall - Mike Brown had accomplished what he really wanted, which was to sell out the stadium and make even more profit. He has never cared about striving for a championship - he just wanted to succeed in generating profit from the team. The Marvin...

Softball wrap-up

Yeah, softball ended about two months ago. However, my blogging about it was inconsistent at best, so for the sake of posterity I thought I would offer up a wrap-up post. We ended the first session tied for second place, I believe our final record was 6 - 3. Overall we had a pretty good year, especially since we never seemed to have the same team show up week after week. The team manager arranged to never have more than 10 players show up for a game, so every week there was at least one different...
